FRHS volleyball
CONVOY, Ohio - Fort Recovery High School's volleyball team split its first two matches Saturday and then very nearly knocked off the No. 4 team in the state. And they did it without their leading attacker.
The Indians took the first game against St. Paul (Norwalk) and pushed the fourth-ranked team in the state to the brink before taking a 17-25, 25-16, 28-26 loss at Saturday's PEPSI Lady Knight Invitational host by Crestview. In the other matches they lost 25-23, 19-25, 25-19 to Celina and defeated Old Fort 25-20, 25-16.
The Tribe played much of the day without senior Kinsey Wenning, who sprained her ankle during the third game of the team's opening match of the tournament against Celina.
Holly Brunswick racked up nine of her 17 kills on the weekend in the win over Old Fort. She also had three digs.
Nicole Pottkotter totaled 18 points, 13 kills and 13 digs in the three matches, and Joanna Snyder had 28 digs and 20 kills. Kelsey Wuebker totaled 35 assists and 10 points, and Anne Koesters finished with 19 kills and eight blocks.
Josie Guggenbiller added 34 assists, and Emily May paced the defense with 26 digs.[[In-content Ad]]
