FORT RECOVERY - Fort Recovery did it all, and got better as the game went on.
The Indian girls basketball team crushed the Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks 68-22 Saturday, limiting the visitors to seven second-half points.
After building a 33-15 lead after the opening half, Fort Recovery really locked down. It limited the Blackhawks to 11 percent shooting (2-of-19) after the intermission.
Tiff Gaerke shot 7-of-10 and scored 15 points to lead the Indians, who shot 55 percent in the second half. She also had five rebounds and two blocked shots.
Holly Stein added 13 points and three assists, and Joanna Snyder had 10 points and five rebounds. Anne Koesters also had five rebounds, Vicki Roessner came up with five steals and Sara Fortkamp had four assists.
In addition to its 52-23 advantage in shooting percentage, Fort Recovery won the battle of the boards (31-18) and had just 11 turnovers compared to 30 for the Blackhawks.
Kelley Livingston led Mississinwa Valley with seven points, and Cierra Saintignon added six.
Junior varsity
The Indians limited Mississinawa Valley to one point in the first and third quarters Saturday as they rolled to a 54-21 victory.
Chelsea Leuthold led the Indians (3-0) with 13 points and four steals, and Kelsey Wuebker added 10 points. Nicole Pottkotter added eight points, five rebounds and two blocks.
Lauren Day had seven boards, Rachel Tobe finished with five rebounds and Emily May had five assists and four steals.
