Fort grad helps Dayton to perfect invite (09/12/2008)

Tiff Gaerke racked up 28 kills as the University of Dayton women's volleyball team finished a perfect 3-0 hosting the Dayton Flyer Invitational on Sept. 5 and 6.

Gaerke, a 2007 Fort Recovery High School graduate, reached double-digit kills for the first time in her career when she slammed down 10 in a 27-29, 25-23, 25-18, 23-25, 15-13 opening win over Northwestern. She also had four digs and a block in the victory for Dayton (4-2).

The sophomore added nine kills apiece in the other two matches as the Flyers defeated Towson in four games and Cleveland State in five. She added three digs, three blocks and an assist against Towson, and notched one dig and three blocks in the final match of the tournament.

For the season, Gaerke has 53 kills for an average of 8.8 per match, 10 blocks, 11 digs and one assist.

Jill Roughia

Jay County - 2005

Posted the No. 2 time for the Huntington University women's cross country team, which finished ninth out of 11 teams at the Sept. 6 Hanover Invitational.

Roughia finished the race in 22-minutes, 1.6 seconds. She took 64th place.

Teamed to turn in the second-best finish for the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's cross country team Sept. 6 at the Wabash Hokum Karem.

Ian and Mitchell, who are twin brothers, placed 18th with a combined time of 30-minutes, 10 seconds.
