Fort grad paces No. 2 Oilers

Greg Kahlig matched his career high in points Saturday as the No. 2 team in NCAA Division II stayed undefeated.
The 2010 Fort Recovery High School graduate led the University of Findlay men’s basketball team to a 76-58 victory over Saginaw Valley.
Kahlig shot 5-of-8 for the Oilers (8-0), including 2-of-3 from 3-point range for his 15 points. He also hit all three of his free-throw attempts.
The freshman added four rebounds in his 18 minutes off the bench.
Kahlig, who scored 1,727 points to finish his career as Fort Recovery’s all-time leading scorer and second in Midwest Athletic Conference history, is averaging 8.4 points per game this season. He also has 28 rebounds, eight assists, three steals and two blocks, and has shot 18-of-19 (95 percent) from the foul line.

Helped the Indiana University – East men’s basketball team knock off Bethel College 94-94 Saturday in overtime.
Rigby shot 5-of-9 from the field and hit a pair of 3-pointers for 12 points against Bethel, which won three NAIA Division II national titles in the 1990s. He also had five rebounds, and a block for the Red Wolves (11-3).
The senior had four points, two rebounds, one assist and one block Friday as IU-East defeated Marian 78-69.

Turned in a pair of fourth-place finishes in the Ball State University women’s swim team’s 167-125 loss Saturday to Michigan State.
Vormohr’s best effort came in the 100-yard backstroke, in which she was a state qualifier twice at JCHS. She placed fourth in 1 minute, 9.89 seconds, just 16 hundredths of a second behind the Spartans’ Abigail Immerfall for third place.
The sophomore also turned in a time of 2:30.97 for fourth place in the 200 breaststroke.
Vormohr teamed with Mia Miller, Maria Gramelspacher and Betsy Bowen for second in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:42.8. She and Miller teamed with Mallory Miles and Alanna Bader to take fourth in the 200 medley relay in 1:51.57.

Tallied six points for the Ohio Northern University women’s basketball team Saturday in a 69-44 destruction of John Carroll.
Snyder shot 3-of-6 from the field in the victory, and also had four rebounds, two assists and a block. She is averaging 6.3 points per game for the Polar Bears (7-1) this season.[[In-content Ad]]
