Fort JV tops Jay

FORT RECOVERY - The Patriots scored the first two runs Friday night. The next 12 belonged to the Tribe.
Fort Recovery High School's junior varsity softball team bounced back to shut out Jay County over the final five innings Friday for a 12-2 win in six innings.
The two JCHS runs came in the first inning, but the Indians (3-7) reclaimed the lead with three in the bottom of the frame. They added another five runs in the fourth inning and two each in the fifth and sixth.
Andi Sutter gave up just two unearned runs on three hits to earn the victory. She struck out nine batters and did not allow a walk.
Taylor Guggenbiller finished with a single, two runs and two RBIs for Fort Recovery. Nicole Hart walked twice and scored three runs, and Karissa Will and Sutter each had two hits.
Abby Denney doubled and scored a run for Jay County (2-2-1).
Ranae Ray scored the other Patriot run, and Paige Alsip added a double.
Whitni Somers took the loss, giving up 12 runs, only two of which were earned, on six hits. She walked four and struck out four.[[In-content Ad]]
