Fort OKs annexation for J&M expansion
Fort Recovery Village Council
FORT RECOVERY — The village council gave its approval Monday to annexing more than 24 acres to facilitate utility services to J&M Manufacturing.
The Fort Recovery Village Council met Monday and voted in favor of the annexation of property owned by J&M Manufacturing, which has begun construction on a 142,000-square foot building to the north of its current buildings.
The company, which has hired 30 employees since March, bringing its total to 160, needs village utility services to the new building. Part of the company is already inside the village corporate limits.
Final authorization on the annexation must come from the Mercer County Commissioners.
The new building will be used to paint grain carts, gravity wagons and other equipment manufactured by J&M.
Work on the new building has already begun and is expected to be completed, and for the new painting system to be operational, by July.
The company has hired an additional 30 employees since March, bringing the number of employees to 160. The expansion is expected to create 10 to 12 new jobs.
The village is working on a tax abatement plan for the expansion, which would phase in new property taxes due.
Jerry and Maurice Grieshop founded the business in 1960.
Randy Diller, village administrator, told The Daily Standard (Celina) this week that the village sewer system will be able to handle the additional load generated through the J&M expansion.[[In-content Ad]]
