FRHS cross country
BOTKINS, Ohio - Fort Recovery's girls cross country team put together another strong effort Saturday, finishing sixth at the Botkins Invitational.
The Indians scored 202 points, 10 behind Centerburg, in a 16-team field field which included three of the top 10 teams in Division III. No. 1 Minster won with 35 points, No. 4 Versailles was second with 73 and No. 9 Fort Loramie finished ninth with 79.
Mindy Vogel led the effort for Fort Recovery, which is now 59-28 on the year. She finished fourth behind one runner from each of the top three schools, crossing the finish line in 20-minutes, 17 seconds.
Mary Prakel of Versailles won in 19:53 and was followed by Kara Gasson of Fort Loramie (19:57) and Brigitte Sherman of Minster (20:02).
Tina Roessner just missed a spot in the top 20 in the race of 177 runners, finishing just behind a pair of runners from Versailles. She crossed the line 21st in 21:26.3 with Katie Jo Mestemaker (20th - 21:26.0) and Taylor Huffman (19th - 21:25) ahead of her.
Sam Bihn placed 35th in a time of 22:15, Amber Heitkamp was 68th in 23:27 and Sam Staugler took 136th in 26:16.
Also running for the Indians were Melissa Tobe (164th - 28:18) and Kelsey Brockman (167th - 28:20).[[In-content Ad]]
