Fort pool needs work
Options include painting, fiberglass
FORT RECOVERY — The pool here needs some work.
Fort Recovery Village Council members learned during a meeting Monday that the pool needs to be professionally painted by next year.
Fort Recovery village administrator Randy Diller told the council that the project of sandblasting and painting the pool will cost approximately $20,000.
He added that village employees previously painted the pool, which has not been professionally painted in approximately 15 years.
Council members also talked about having the concrete pool covered in fiberglass for an estimated $75,000 and installing heaters in the pool to allow it to be used earlier in the summer and later into the fall.
Diller said that he would collect more information on these projects and present the information to the council at a later meeting.
Also Monday, the council discussed possibly updating its nuisance ordinance. The current ordinance was drafted in 1973. The town also uses nuisance guidelines from the Ohio Municipal Code.
Diller said after the meeting that there have been several village residents requesting that stricter nuisance guidelines be set for village property owners.
Council members were encouraged to review the village’s ordinance and the municipal code for discussion planned at the council’s Oct. 18 meeting.
In other business, Diller reported that the village’s grant application for a planned stormwater control project has been submitted to the Ohio Public Works Commission. Village officials are requesting an approximately $285,000 grant, which will help the village fund the approximately $350,000 stormwater control and street reconstruction project. The project will also reconstruct the street, curbs, sidewalks and street lights on George Street from Washington Street to Hickory Circle.
Also Monday, council members:
•Approved the payment of $27,813.50 to B&L Construction of St. Henry, Ohio for the sidewalk construction on Harrison and Milligan streets.
•Heard Diller report that leaves are currently being collected in the village. Currently, village employees are picking up leaves on Monday and Friday. Later this fall, employees will be collecting leaves Monday through Friday, he added.
•Authorized village officials to take legal action towards a resident with delinquent income taxes.
•Heard Diller report that Best Equipment, Indianapolis, has a 1997 street sweeper for sale for $40,000 and a 1996 leaf vacuum priced at $6,000.
Diller said after Monday’s meeting that village officials have been thinking about purchasing these items but added that he will continue to compare prices.[[In-content Ad]]
