Fort rallies for 2-1 victory

FRHS Softball

UNION CITY, Ohio - The Fort Recovery softball team struck late to nab a 2-1 victory over Mississinewa Valley Friday.

Both teams went scoreless until Mississinewa put up its only run of the game in the bottom of the fifth. The Indians (3-0), however, quickly bounced back in the top of the sixth.

Kendra Brunswick drove in Carly Staugler to tie the game.

Two batters later, Andi Sutter smacked an RBI single to bring Brunswick in and give the Indians the lead.

Sutter dominated the Blackhawks on the mound, pitching all seven innings and giving up only three hits and two walks while striking out eight.

The Indians collected eight hits on the evening as seven of nine Indians reached base at least once during the game.

The offense was paced by Brunswick, who had a single, double and stolen base.[[In-content Ad]]
