FORT RECOVERY - The Indians got hot from the field in the second half Friday night, rolling to a 58-50 win over the St. John's Blue Jays.
After struggling a bit in the first half, Division IV No. 10 Fort Recovery (12-4, 5-2 Midwest Athletic Conference) came back to hit more than 70 percent of its field goal attempts in the second half.
Greg Kahlig and Clint Tobe led the way for the Indians, with each scoring 17 points. Tobe hit 7-of-12 from the field, including 3-of-4 3-point shots. Kahlig hit 6-of-13 from the field and 4-of-5 from the free throw line.
The pair also led the way in rebounding, with Kahlig picking up 12 while Tobe grabbed seven.
Hitting just 43 percent of their field goals in the first half, the Indians led St. John's (5-9, 0-6 MAC) by just one point at the end of the first quarter. They fell behind 27-26 at the half.
The second half was another story. After hitting just 9-of-21 shots from the field in the first half, the Indians made 12-of-17 in the second.
Fort Recovery jumped out to a 44-37 lead by the end of the third quarter then held on for the win.
Scott Recker scored 14 for the Blue Jays, while Eric Buettner scored 11 and Cameron Hermiller scored 10.
In JV play, it was Delphos St. John's coming out on top 33-27. Josh Wendel led the Indians in scoring with 11 points.[[In-content Ad]]
