Fort rated No. 1 (01/11/07)
FRHS girls basketball
Fort Recovery's girls expect to be playing in the state finals this year. The voters agree that is where they belong.
The Associated Press released its first girls basketball poll of the season Wednesday, and the Indians are at the top of Division IV.
Fort Recovery earned the No. 1 ranking in Ohio's smallest class, picking up five first-place votes and 162 points. Columbus Africentric (9-1) had the most first-place votes (seven), but finished second to the Tribe with 150 points.
Three other schools also received first-place nods.
The Indians, who were 9-0 at the time of the voting and are now 11-0, are responsible for the only losses by Division III No. 8 Versailles (9-1) and Division IV No. 7 Minster (8-1). They face two more tough tests in the coming week when they visit New Knoxville (9-2), which was 15th in the Division IV voting, and play Division I Green (8-3) Monday in the Classic in the Country at Berlin Hiland.[[In-content Ad]]
