Fort Recovery 1-2 at Crestview Invite (09/29/03)
FRHS volleyball
Fort Recovery slipped to 13-5 on the season Saturday with a couple of losses sandwiched around a victory at the Crestview Invitational.
The Tribe lost to Concordia 15-7, 15-0 and the host Knights 15-7, 5-15, 15-13. It also defeated the Parkway Panthers for the third time this season 15-10, 15-11.
Jenn Stahl paced the team in the victory over Parkway with five blocks and four kills. Joscie Kaup had five kills to go along with 11 assists, and Briget Metzger and Tiff Gaerke each added three blocks.
Krystal Rammel finished with nine points, and Renee Schmackers followed with seven. Jennalee Post followed Kaup with seven assists, and Megan Wenning had four digs.
Metzger had three kills and three points in the quick loss to Indiana Class 3A No. 4 Fort Wayne Concordia. Kaup had a pair of kills and three sets.
The loss to Crestview was much closer, with Rammel and Metzger each slamming down nine kills. Rammel added six blocks and 10 digs.
Joscie Kaup followed with eight kills to go along with eight points, 26 assists and 10 digs. Megan Wenning had eight points and a team-best 12 digs.
The next match for Fort Recovery is at Jay County Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Junior varsity
The Fort Recovery junior varsity volleyball team scored a couple of quick victories over Ansonia 15-7, 15-6 and Fort Loramie 15-5, 15-7 Saturday.
Vicki Roessner and Jackie Wenning shared team-highs in points and digs with seven and 10 respectively against Fort Loramie. Kristen Schwieterman also had 10 digs.
Julie Link had nine digs, and Ciera Rammel put up 11 assists. Kelly Link finished with five kills and four blocks, and Roessner added a pair of blocks.
Fort Recovery (11-1) got nine points, two blocks and four digs from Schwieterman against Ansonia. Kristi Westgerdes had eight points, and Rammel followed with seven.
Rammel also had seven assists and three kills. Kelly Link notched six kills and two blocks, Julie Link had three kills, and Brenda Rindler came away with four digs.[[In-content Ad]]
