Fort Recovery downs Tri-Village (12/06/04)

FRHS boys basketball

FORT RECOVERY — A three-headed monster led the Fort Recovery boys basketball team to its second win in as many tries. The Indians’ Dusty Tobe, Travis VanSkyock and Sean Kahlig each scored in double figures to lead a 58-44 victory over the Tri-Village Patriots.

Tobe did most of his damage at the line, hitting on 11-of-12 free throw attempts en route to a game-high of 18 points. He led the way as the Tribe scored 18 points from the foul line, compared to just five for the Patriots.

VanSkyock and Kahlig each shot better than 50 percent from the field. VanSkyock was 5-of-8 and scored 16 points, and Kahlig finished 6-of-8 and totaled 15 points.

The trio paced the Indians, who outscored Tri-Village 14-7 in the first quarter and controlled the entire game. Their lead slipped to three points at halftime, but ballooned to 12 after three quarters as they cruised to victory.

In addition to his point total, Tobe had game highs of six assists and three steals. Greg Faller had six rebounds and three steals, while VanSkyock led Fort Recovery with seven rebounds.

Sam Lindamood had 16 points for the Patriots, who shot shot 43 percent from the field. That mark was three points better than the Indians, but wasn’t enough to overcome the free-throw disparity.

Cameron Quinn followed Lindamood with nine points, and Daniel Foreman had three assists. Josh Fisherback grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, and Ryan Snyder followed with five.

Brunswick scores 17

The Fort Recovery junior varsity squad rode Trent Brunswick’s four 3-pointers to a 45-35 victory over Tri-Village.

Brunswick finished 4-of-10 from 3-point range and scored a game-high 17 points to pace the Indians. He also shared a game high with the Patriots’ Davi Barger by grabbing eight rebounds, and added five steals and two blocks.

Fort Recovery jumped out to a 12-5 lead after one quarter, and went up by 12 at haltime. Tri-Village rallied to tie the game at 31 with one quarter to play, but the Indians outscored the visitors 14-4 in the final period.

Tony Diller joined Brunswick in double figures with 11 points, while also grabbing five rebounds. Lucas Staugler and Bobby Rammel each added six points, Staugler grabbed six rebounds and Curt Heitkamp added six assists.
