Fort Recovery earns first conference wins (09/28/07)

FORT RECOVERY - It's been a good week for the Tribe.

Thursday's 25-18, 26-24, 25-23 victory over the St. John's Blue Jays gave the Fort Recovery High School volleyball team its first Midwest Athletic Conference victory of the season and first back-to-back wins in nearly a month.

Nicole Pottkotter had team highs of 16 assists and 12 digs to lead the Indians, whose only other back-to-back wins this season came on the same day - Sept. 1 at the St. Marys Invitational. She also finished second on the squad with nine points.

Kinsey Wenning also had a pair of team bests with 11 kills and 10 points, including four aces, as Fort Recovery improved to 6-8 overall and 1-5 in the MAC. Anne Koesters added seven kills, and Kelsey Wuebker finished with six digs.

Junior varsity

The Indians rolled to 8-2 on the year with a 25-22, 25-14 victory over St. John's.

Chelsey Leuthold led Fort Recovery, now 4-2 in the MAC, with seven kills, seven digs and two blocks, and Josie Guggenbiller had 12 assists and 10 points.

Alyssa Brackman matched Leuthold's seven digs, and Olivia Thien totaled three blocks. Carly Staugler scored six points, and Holly Brunswick had five kills.

Freshman

LIMA, Ohio - Shelby Brunswick's eight points and seven assists helped lift Fort Recovery to a 25-19, 15-25, 25-20 victory over the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds.

Haley Wilson added six points and two kills for the Tribe. Holly Thien had four kills and three blocks.[[In-content Ad]]
