Fort Recovery girls top Roughriders

FORT RECOVERY - Three players scored in double figures Saturday as the Fort Recovery High School girls basketball team opened its season with a 56-48 victory over the Memorial Roughriders.

Nicole Pottkotter hit a pair of 3-pointers on the way to a 15-point evening for the Indians, who outscored the visitors from St. Marys 30-17 in the second and third quarters. She was efficient as she scored her game-high total on just six field-goal attempts, and she also had six rebounds and two steals.

Holly Brunswick added 14 points and two steals off the bench. Her twin sister Kendra Brunswick totaled 10 points and four rebounds.

Fort Recovery's reserves outscored the Roughriders' bench 27-0.

Nicole Dilworth dished out four assists.

Rachel Wale, Katie Burke and Jo Steva each scored 11 points for Memorial. Erika Thornsberry had eight rebounds, and Carrie Schlater added six boards, three assists and three steals.

Junior varsity

Kylie Kahlig led the Indians to a dominating 54-23 win over Memorial.

Kahlig posted game highs of 14 points and five steals. Olivia Schwieterman added 11 points for Fort Recovery, and Ericka Lennartz had eight rebounds.

Ashleigh Falk led Memorial with 12 points.[[In-content Ad]]
