Fort Recovery golfers drop opener

SIDNEY, Ohio — The Fort Recovery High School boys golf team fell short in its first outing of the season Friday, dropping a 184-189 decision to the Botkins Trojans.
Jared Kahlig of the Indians earned medalist honors with a 43, but four Botkins golfers each shot 46 to combine for the winning team score.
Kahlig opened his round with a par on the 160-yard, par-3 first hole on the Oaks West nine at Shelby Oaks Golf Club.
He added three bogeys and then parred three of the final four holes to post the best score of the day.
Hayden Pottkotter followed Kahlig with three pars and three bogeys for a 49. Shawn Roessner finished with one par and four bogeys on the way to a 49.
Elijah Kahlig rounded out the team score with a 50. Gage Retz shot 55, and Derek Rammel finished at 62.
In junior varsity action, Josh Pohl finished with a 53 for Fort Recovery in three-team competition. Botkins took first place with a 223, followed by the Indians (229) and Fairlawn (247).[[In-content Ad]]
