Fort Recovery School Board
FORT RECOVERY — Scores are still tentative, but Fort Recovery school administrators are pleased with the way students performed on Ohio Achievement Assessments.
Fort Recovery School Board learned Thursday that at least 82 percent of students passed each test in the OAA, which includes reading and math in third through eighth grades as well as science in fifth and eighth grades. That included all 61 seventh graders passing the reading test.
The board also learned about new classes that will be offered at the middle school this year.
Every seventh grader in Fort Recovery passed the reading test, as well as 69 out of 70 eighth graders and 75 of 77 fourth graders.
“I think we have a lot to be proud of there,” said middle school principal Matt Triplett. “I’m really pleased about those numbers.”
The district’s lowest scores came in math as 82 percent of third and fifth graders passed that portion of the OAA.
Board members Jose Faller, Ginny Fortkamp, Dave Hull, Amy Bihn and Aaron Guggenbiller also learned about the addition of Introduction to Theatre, Genius Hour and Middle School Transition courses at Fort Recovery Middle School.
Genius Hour will be a course in which students work on projects of interest to them that could benefit the school, community or beyond. It is open to all sixth graders.
Middle School Transition will be a nine-week course that teaches study and organizational skills.
