Fort Recovery tops Jets (03/29/06)

FORT RECOVERY — Seven different individual winners gave the Fort Recovery junior high girls track team a 70-44 victory over Franklin Monroe Monday. Perry Hull won a pair of events for the boys team, which lost 65-48.
The Indian girls dominated a pair of events, finishing first through fourth in both the 200-meter hurdles and the discus. Amber Heitkamp paced the hurdles sweep, finishing in 37.37 seconds followed by Abby Huelskamp, Kelly Wendel and Josie Guggenbiller. Kelsey Brockman took first in the discus at 62 feet, seven inches with Carly Staugler, Jessica Link and Deanna Hemmelgarn all tossing 58 feet or farther.
Beth Muhlenkamp, Emily May and Link each grabbed a win to complete the sweep of the field events. Muhlenkamp was first in the high jump at four feet, eight inches, May took first in the long jump with a leap of 12 feet, nine inches and Link won the shot put at 22 feet, 9.75 inches.
Other wins for the girls team came from Kelsey Faller in the 100 dash in 14.42 seconds and Sylvia Schwieterman with a time of 20.82 in the 100 hurdles.
Hull paced a pair of Indian boys sweeps in the 100 dash and the shot put. He finished ahead of teammates Adam Rohrer and Mark Mattraw to win the 100 dash in 13.29, and tossed 32 feet, six inches in the shot put with Mattraw second and Rohrer third.
Shane Stein won the high jump at five feet, two inches, Ethan Schoenherr was first in the long jump at 14 feet, seven inches and Jacob Pohl took the 1,600 run in 5-minutes, 38.84 seconds.[[In-content Ad]]
