Fort rolls over Tigers

ANSONIA, Ohio - The Tribe could not have kicked off the final week of the regular season much better.
Fort Recovery High School's volleyball team slaughtered the Ansonia Tigers 25-9, 25-8, 25-9 Monday to improve its record to 11-9. The Indians host St. John's today before closing the regular season on the road Thursday against undefeated Division IV No. 1 Marion Local.
Nicole Pottkotter set the pace for the Indians with 15 points, 11 assists and seven kills. Carly Staugler also scored 15 points.
Emily May led the defense with eight digs, and Chelsey Leuthold added five. Holly Brunswick had eight kills, and Holly Thien finished with four blocks.
In junior varsity action the Indians improved to 11-5 with a 25-19, 25-17 victory.
Abby Backs totaled six points and six digs, and Nichole Kaiser scored 12 points. Kylie Kahlig had six kills and two blocks, Kayla Kahlig put up seven assists and Rashell Muhlenkamp added five kills.
Freshman
Emily Link led Fort Recovery to a 25-21, 25-22 win over the Russia Raiders.
Link totaled 13 points and six assists as the Tribe pushed to 11-6 on the year. Kelsey Fiely had eight points and three kills, and Chelsea Pottkotter added three kills and one block.
Heather Vaughn finished with 10 digs, and Emily Metzger followed with nine.
Middle school
FORT RECOVERY - The seventh grade Indians picked up their fourth win 25-18, 25-20 over Ansonia. The eighth graders lost a close math, 26-24, 25-22.
Tori Lennartz had 13 points, three kills and a block to lead the seventh graders (4-10). Haley Knapke added six points and four kills, and Rachel Pugh had three kills.
Sierra Pugh finished with seven points and four kills for the eighth grade Indians (0-14). Lexi Schmitz scored 11 points, Hannah Kaup added seven points and Morgan Dues notched three assists.[[In-content Ad]]
