Fort schools earn Blue Ribbon awards (10/11/06)

Fort Recovery school board

FORT RECOVERY - State and national honors keep coming in for Fort Recovery High School.

Ohio recognized FRHS at a ceremony today in Columbus conducted by the board on Schools of Distinction, and in November the school will be honored in Washington, D.C., as a Blue Ribbon School nationally.

This is the second year in a row that FRHS has been recognized by the Schools of Distinction program.

Fort school board members accepted the retirement resignation of longtime elementary school principal Nancy Knapke at Tuesday night's meeting. Her retirement is effective Dec. 1.

In other action, the board:

•Learned that a celebration concluding the "Fit at the Fort" program, which has involved students and staff over the past few weeks, will be held at 2:45 p.m. Thursday at the gymnasium of the elementary and middle school. Students and staff members have been wearing pedometers to measure how far they have walked.
