FORT RECOVERY - Heartbreaking likely doesn't begin to describe it.
After winning the opening game in their match Tuesday against Coldwater only to drop the next three, the Indians again took control Thursday. But the Fort Recovery High School volleyball team remains winless in the Midwest Athletic Conference today after dropping the final three games to the New Knoxville Rangers in a 10-25, 24-26, 25-14, 25-21, 15-8 defeat.
Sophomore Nicole Pottkotter finished with 23 assists, eight points and eight blocks to lead the Indians, who slipped to 4-8 overall and 0-5 in the MAC despite winning the first two games against New Knoxville (6-6, 2-3 MAC). Kelsey Wuebker added 10 assists and 13 points.
Sarah Braun totaled 12 kills and 10 blocks, and Kinsey Wenning topped the team with 15 kills.
Junior varsity
Fort Recovery improved to 3-2 in the MAC with a 25-17, 22-25, 25-13 victory over the Rangers.
Chelsey Leuthold powered the Indians, finishing second on the team in points (seven), kills (five) and digs (five). Josie Guggenbiller had eight points and eight assists, Carly Staugler notched eight assists and seven points and Holly Brunswick added seven points and six kills.
Olivia Thien finished with five kills and five blocks in the balanced effort for the Indians (7-2). Alyssa Brackman had eight digs, and Sarah Knapke scored seven points.[[In-content Ad]]
