Fort Recovery volleyball
FORT RECOVERY - The Indians had struggled against Midwest Athletic Conference competition. But facing not only one of the best teams in the MAC, but one of the best in the state, they came through in a big way.
Fort Recovery High School's volleyball team dumped the Division IV No. 6 New Bremen Cardinals in three games, 26-24, 25-16, 25-22.
Beth May led the Tribe victory with 19 points and 10 digs, both team highs for the Indians (11-11, 2-7 Midwest Athletic Conference). Anne Koesters added 10 kills and 10 blocks, and Kinsey Wenning had 10 kills and six blocks against New Bremen, which dropped to 14-5 overall and 6-3 in the MAC.
Kelsey Wuebker put up 20 assists, and Nicole Pottkotter had six points.
Junior varsity
Fort Recovery improved to 12-6 on the season and 5-4 in the MAC with a 25-16, 25-23 victory over the Cardinals.
Josie Guggenbiller totaled nine points and seven assists in the win, and Chelsey Luethold had seven kills and five digs.
Olivia Thien added six kills and three blocks.
Alyssa Brackman matched Leuthold for the team-high of five digs, and Holly Brunswick had a pair of blocks.
Freshman
The Indians slipped to 12-8 with a 25-10, 25-6 loss to the Marion Local Flyers.
Haley Wilson finished with 11 digs and two points in the defeat, and Nichole Kaiser had seven digs and three kills.
Shelby Brunswick totaled six assists, Holly Thien had two blocks, Caitlin Gehret recorded two kills and Renee Fortkamp scored two points.[[In-content Ad]]
