Fourth committee says thanks (7/15/03)
Editor's Mailbag
By To the editor:-
The Jay County Fourth of July Committee would like to thank everyone, from the community to all the performers and participants, that helped make this year’s Fourth of July celebration a great success. Although Mother Nature tried to rain out our day, there were only two events that could not take place.
The Performance Company was not able to complete its show, and Del Rio was not able to perform before the fireworks display, but we really appreciate them coming.
We would especially like to thank everyone that gave a donation or gift; we would not have been able to provide this great day for the community without your support.
Another big thank you goes out to the crew that helped with the fireworks display.
You were able to stay in contact with area radio stations and get updates on the severe weather, and although rushed, you were able to provide the community with a great show between storms.
We would also like to announce the winners of the 5K run and talent show: 5K run: Men — Kent Liechty, Berne, 1st, Kurtis Hess, Portland, 2nd, and Dave Poole, Portland, 3rd; Women — Amanda Johnson, Portland, 1st, Laura Streitelmeier, Boston, Mass., 2nd, and Anne Penny, Indianapolis, 3rd.
Talent show: 12-and-under — Victoria Williams, Katie Keifer, Arial Limbert and Monica Limbert, 1st; 13-and-over — Heather Manor, 1st, Teresa Crawford, 2nd, Dustin Habegger, 3rd.
