FORT RECOVERY - The Indians keep pulling their way back to .500.

Fort Recovery High School's volleyball team has alternated losses and wins through its last 10 matches, getting its latest 'W' Monday 25-21, 17-25, 25-13, 25-9 over the Ansonia Tigers.

Also, the seedings for the sectional tournament at New Bremen were released Sunday with the Tribe taking on New Knoxville in the opening round.

The Indians have been even 5-5, 6-6, 7-7, 8-8, 9-9 and now 10-10 this year. They will try to pull above .500 for the first time since Sept. 15 when they visit St. Henry tonight.

Kelsey Wuebker led the Fort Recovery victory with team highs of 22 assists and three blocks. Fellow senior Anne Koesters had nine kills and a trio of blocks.

Kinsey Wenning racked up 15 kills, Joanna Snyder had 21 digs and Nicole Pottkotter followed with 15 digs. Emily May scored 11 points, and Alyssa Brackman added 10 points.

Fort Recovery and New Knoxville (8-10) will play in the first of two semifinal matches at New Bremen Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 6 p.m. The winner will advance to play Division IV No. 2 Marion Local (18-2) Saturday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m.

Minster (13-6) and Perry will play in the second semifinal match Oct. 14 at 7:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to play the host Cardinals (14-3) in the second title match Oct. 18.

The two sectional champions will play in the district semifinal round Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m.

The Indians defeated New Knoxville 25-16, 18-25, 25-17, 26-24 during the regular season. They lost 25-19, 25-13, 25-27, 25-15 to Marion Local and 25-15, 25-24, 25-15 to Minster. They will play New Bremen Thursday.

Junior varsity

Carly Staugler paced the Indians in a 25-22, 25-15 victory over Ansonia.

Staugler posted 12 assists and five points while Sarah Knapke finished with nine points and six digs. Olivia Thien had seven kills and a pair of blocks, and Lorraine Shier added five points and three kills.

Marissa Brunswick matched Shier with three kills.

Freshman

RUSSIA, Ohio - Olivia Schwieterman totaled six points, four assists and two digs as Fort Recovery stayed above .500 with a 25-15, 25-21 victory over the Russia Raiders.

Kara Faller totaled 11 points and five kills for the Indians (10-8), and Ericka Lennartz had five kills and two digs. Abby Backs picked up a team-best five digs, and Kayla Kahlig added two digs.

Middle school

ANSONIA, Ohio - The Indian eighth graders rolled over the Ansonia Tigers, 25-8, 25-112. The seventh grade team won the opening game, but fell short of its first victory of the season 24-26, 25-21, 25-7.

Chelsea Pottkotter had 14 points, six aces and three kills to pace the Fort Recovery eighth grade team, and Janelle Schwieterman added seven points, six aces and four kills. Emily Link had four assists, and Clair Pottkotter added a dig.

Jackie Fullenkamp's eight points and one assist led the seventh graders. Hannah Kaup scored five points, Morgan Dues had one assist and Sam Florence had one dig.[[In-content Ad]]
