FR grad helps lift ONU
Collegiate Check-up
Nicole Pottkotter helped the Ohio Northern University volleyball team even its conference record.
The 2010 Fort Recovery High School graduate finished third on the team in kills Tuesday to lead the Polar Bears to a 25-19, 23-25, 25-9, 25-14 victory over Wilmington.
Pottkotter finished with nine kills as ONU improved to 12-14 overall and 3-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. She finished with a .471 attack percentage.
The sophomore also had eight kills, one dig and one block in a five-game loss Saturday to Baldwin-Wallace.
For the season, Pottkotter has 112 kills, 36 digs, 12 blocks and two assists.
Frank Thien
Ft. Recovery – 2011
Grabbed a couple of receptions Saturday in the Ohio Northern University’s 20-6 loss to host Baldwin-Wallace.
Thien started at wide receiver and caught a 21-yard pass from Matt Flynn in the opening quarter. He added a 12-yard reception in the third quarter.
Megan Taylor
Jay County – 2011
Ran for the Spartan cross country team Saturday as it hosted the Manchester Invitational.
Taylor finished in the middle of the 96-runner field, placing 45th. She turned in a time of 26 minutes, 57.3 seconds in the 6K race.
Allison Beitler
South Adams – 2010
Also competed at the Manchester Invitational, helping the Goshen College women’s team to a fifth-place finish out of eight teams.
Beitler finished 23 seconds behind Taylor in 52nd place.
She was the No. 6 runner for the Maple Leafs in 27:20.5.
Maddie Moore
South Adams – 2009
Helped the Bluffton University women’s soccer team match the school record for wins Saturday with a 1-0 victory over Franklin.
Moore attempted three shots for the Beavers, who improved to 8-3-1 overall and 3-2 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Bluffton record of eight wins was set with an 8-9 mark in 1999 and matched with the same record in 2009.[[In-content Ad]]
