FR struggles against 'Skins

FORT RECOVERY - The Indians managed to stay within striking distance. They simply could not get much of anything to go in the basket.
Shooting just 21 percent, the Fort Recovery High School girls basketball team fell 47-37 Saturday to the visiting Wapakoneta Redskins.
A pair of free throws from Nicole Pottkotter pulled the Tribe (2-1) to within four points with 4:08 to go, but Wapakoneta outscored the Indians 7-1 the rest of the way. FRHS shot just 10-of-48 for the game, including 5-of-28 (18 percent) in the second half.
Heidi Schlegel dominated the inside to power the Redskins, finishing 10-of-14 from the field for 24 points and 16 rebounds. Her effort on the glass keyed a 38-24 rebounding advantage for the visitors, and she also had four steals.
Morgan Quellhorst added eight points, and Tasha Helmstetter had seven.
Kendra Brunswick's seven points were the team high for the Indians. Chelsea Leuthold scored six points, and Pottkotter had seven rebounds and two assists.
Junior varsity
Kylie Kahlig went 4-of-5 from the field and totaled nine points, four steals and two assists to lead Fort Recovery to a 47-25 victory over the Redskins.
Ericka Lennartz added eight points and six rebounds for the undefeated Indians. Olivia Schwieterman also scored eight points, and Chelsea Pottkotter had six rebounds.
