FRHS draws Cards, Flyers (04/30/07)

Saturday will be a busy day for Fort Recovery fans who like to hang out at the ball diamond. Both the Tribe softball and baseball teams will open their sectional tournaments this weekend.

The Indian softball team will play Marion Local Saturday in the opening game of the sectional at New Bremen at noon, and less than four miles away at Minster the baseball team will meet New Bremen at 2:30 p.m.

Fort Recovery's baseball team is the No. 3 seed at Minster, and if it wins its opening game it would play No. 2 seed Marion Local in the sectional championship round Wednesday, May 9, at 7:30 p.m.

The other half of the bracket features Waynesfield-Goshen against New Knoxville in the first game of the tournament Saturday at noon. The winner of that contest will play top-seeded Minster in a sectional final May 9 at 5 p.m.

The two sectional champions will advance to play in the Coldwater district semifinal round Wednesday, May 16.

The Indians are scheduled to play New Bremen in Midwest Athletic Conference action on the road Tuesday. Their last meeting came in the 2006 district semifinal, where the Tribe lost 4-3 in a two-day, nine-inning contest.

At New Bremen, the Indiana softball team will play the first game, followed by the host Cardinals meeting Minster at 2 p.m. The Fort Recovery/Marion Local winner will play No. 1 seed St. Henry Wednesday, May 9, and the winner of that game will meet the New Bremen/Minster winner Tuesday, May 15.
