FRHS falls to Redskins (12/04/06)

WAPAKONETA, Ohio - Freshman Greg Kahlig scored in double figures again. But it wasn't nearly enough as the Fort Recovery boys basketball team fell 65-48 Saturday to the Wapakoneta Redskins.
Kahlig, who scored 17 points in his high school debut as the Indians defeated Kalida 67-42 Friday, had 12 points versus the Wapakoneta, but shot just 5-of-17 from the field.
Fort Recovery struggled as a team as it shot just 30 percent, including 6-of-24 (25 percent) in the first half.
Greg Kahlig was followed by Clint Tobe and Aaron Kahlig with eight points apiece. Tony Diller and Toby Metzger each grabbed four rebounds, and Curt Heitkamp had three assists.
The Redskins also dominated the glass as B.J. Reed had 17 rebounds and Randy Schmerge added 15 for a 46-16 advantage. Reed led Wapakoneta with 21 points, and Schmerge had 15.
Junior varsity
Fort Recovery managed just five first-half field goals in a 56-40 loss to the Redskins.
Wes Kahlig's 16 points, five rebounds and five steals led the Indians, who trailed 30-13 at halftime. Tyler Jutte added seven points.
Drew Golden was one of three Wapakoneta players to reach double figures, finishing with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Jordan Ruppert scored 13 points, and Jackson Hayzlett added 10.[[In-content Ad]]
