FRHS runners are 5th

FRHS cross country

BOTKINS, Ohio - Marissa Brunswick paced the Fort Recovery High School girls cross country team Saturday as it finished fifth out of 12 teams at the Botkins Invitational.

The girls squad scored 134 points to finish 22 behind fourth-place Fort Loramie, which is ranked fourth in Division IV. Division III No. 3 Versailles won with 45 while No. 2 Spencerville (47) was second and No. 1 Minster (99) finished first.

The Tribe boys were 9th out of 14 with 277 points. Division III No. 10 Minster won with 46.

Brunswick led the FRHS girls with a 12th-place finish in 21 minutes, 37 seconds. Nicole Heitkamp was 24th in 22:29 ahead of Casey Backs (31st - 22:49), Abby Huelskamp (41st - 23:18) and Sam Tobe (44th - 23:22).

Ryan Heitkamp crossed the finish line in 18:412 for 32nd for the Tribe boys, and Nathan Fullenkamp placed 35th in 18:45. Calvin Kaiser was 44th with a time of 19:04 followed by Marshall Hull (98th - 21:22) and Aaron Will (132nd - 23:24).

Middle school

Josh Pohl finished second in the boys race to lead Fort Recovery to a fourth-place finish out of 13 teams. The Indian girls team was 6th out of nine.

Pohl finished just three seconds behind Minster's Andrew Fausey with a time of 11:39.4 He edged Lehman Catholic's Joe Fuller for second by 1.2 seconds.

Derek Sutter was 11th-place in 12:16 ahead of Joe Gonzalez (33rd - 13:10), Grant Hull (61st - 13:47) and Isaac Keller (65th - 14:07).

Jessica Vogel finished 10th for the girls team in 13:49, and Elle Sutter posted a time of 13:59 for 17th. Joining them were Kinsey McEldowney (36th - 14:52), Sam Kaiser (61st - 15:42) and Cassie Gray (64th - 15:48).[[In-content Ad]]
