FRHS teacher arrested
CELINA, Ohio — A Fort Recovery High School teacher has been arrested and charged with sexual battery in connection with alleged incidents with a student occurring over a three-year period.
Christopher A. Summers, 32, 671 Woodlawn Ave., St. Henry, Ohio, was arrested and charged with sexual battery, a third degree felony.
Summers is an accounting teacher and former girls junior varsity basketball coach at FRHS.
A press release from Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey states that the sheriff’s office was contacted Monday at 3 p.m. by the female victim and her family.
Grey said that Summers knew the victim from school and began a relationship lasting nearly three years. Grey said the alleged criminal incidents occurred at Summers’ residence and a hotel in a neighboring county.
“We have no reason to believe, at this point, that any of the criminal conduct occurred during school events or on school property,” Grey said in the release. “Fort Recovery Schools has cooperated fully and without hesitation.”
Police received a search warrant Tuesday and seized computers, cameras and other electronics from Summers home.
“We have been advised that Mr. Summers has been arrested by the Mercer County Sheriff’s office. Based upon this, Mr. Summers has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into this matter,” said Fort Recovery Schools superintendent Shelly Vaughn in a statement issued this morning. “Until such time as more facts are provided to the District, we are not in a position to provide further comment.”
Summers was taken to the Mercer County Jail and will be arraigned in court this morning.[[In-content Ad]]
