FR's Pottkotter key for Polar Bears

After the 22nd-ranked Polar Bears dropped back-to-back matches, a Fort Recovery graduate helped get them back on track Tuesday.
Nicole Pottkotter, a 2010 FRHS graduate, totaled 37 assists as the Ohio Northern University volleyball team defeated Muskingum 25-15, 25-13, 25-12.
Pottkotter also had five digs and two kills in the victory. The Polar Bears, who have been ranked in the top 25 in Division III all season, are now 11-9 overall and 1-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
The freshman also turned in an impressive performance Saturday in Ohio Northern’s 21-25, 25-13, 25-22, 17-25, 16-14 heart-breaker loss to Mount St. Joseph.
She had 47 assists, nine digs, three kills and two blocks in the defeat.
Amanda Johnson
Jay County - 2008
Turned in a top-10 finish as the NAIA No. 20 Indiana Wesleyan University women’s cross country team dominated the field Saturday at the Highlander Invitational hosted by Houghton College.
Johnson completed a run of six competitors in the top eight for the Wildcats, who won the meet easily with 22 points. Brockport was second in the 13-team field with 88.
The junior finished the 5K race in 18 minutes, 28.22 seconds, finishing less than a second behind teammates Alyssa Foss (sixth) and Emily Dean (seventh).
IWU runners also finished second, third and fourth in the event.
Tiff Gaerke
Fort Recovery - 2007
Helped the NCAA Division I No. 19 University of Dayton women’s volleyball team to a 25-17, 25-21, 20-25, 26-28, 15-9 victory over Atlantic 10-rival St. Louis Friday.
Gaerke finished the match with three digs and two kills. She also had two digs Sunday in a three-game win over Duquesne.
The Flyers have won six in a row to improve to 11-3 overall and 2-0 in the A-10.
Maddie Moore
South Adams - 2009
Led the Bluffton University women’s soccer team in shots Saturday in a 1-0 loss to Mount St. Joseph.
Moore recorded two of the Beavers’ four shots on goal in the defeat.
She ranks second on the team in shots on goal for the year with seven.[[In-content Ad]]
