Fuel sales rise
Portland City Council
A big month of fuel sales at Portland Municipal Airport has the Portland City Council refilling the tanks with about $38,000 of airplane fuel.
“We have great news, in the month of May we sold about $15,000 of fuel,” Portland clerk-treasurer Randy Geesaman informed the city council Monday evening. “We have to order fuel.”
A total of 3,267 gallons were sold in May, totaling $15,709.10 ($4.81 per gallon average).
The city council was presented and approved a purchase 8,000 gallons of new fuel for $37,675.15 ($4.71 per gallon) from Arrow Energy, Saline, Mich.
In other business Monday, the council:
•Was informed by Portland Mayor Bruce Hosier that the city was awarded Friday nearly $850,000 in Indiana Department of Transportation grant funds for the Lafayette Street extension and North Side trails projects.
•Was reminded by Hosier that the Hudson Family Park grand opening celebration will take place Sunday at the park.[[In-content Ad]]
