Gaerke, Flyers win at Tennessee (09/20/2008)

Tiffany Gaerke was a key to the offense as the University of Dayton women's volleyball team won its second straight tournament title.
Gaerke, a 2007 Fort Recovery High School graduate, had nine kills in each of the Flyers' two victories at the Lady Vol Classic hosted by Tennessee. They won the tournament despite dropping their final match to the host Volunteers in the tournament Sept. 12 and 13.
The best match for Gaerke came against Gardner-Webb, in which she finished second on the team with nine kills and a sizzling .421 attack percentage. She also came up with four digs.
The sophomore had nine kills, two blocks, one assist and one dig in Dayton's upset of No. 17 Illinois, and finished with 10 kills, two blocks, one dig and one assist in the loss to Tennessee.
Gaerke is averaging nine kills per match for the Flyers (6-3). She also has 17 digs, 14 blocks and three assists.

Finished as the No. 3 scorer for the IUPUI women's golf team, which finished sixth out of nine teams at Monday's rain-shortened Western Illinois Invitational.
Champ shot 88 in the tournament, which was cut from 36 holes to 18, at Harry Mussatto Golf Course. She has averaged 85.7 strokes through her first two tournaments.
