Gaerke leads Flyers at Western Michigan

Tiff Gaerke found her groove in Kalamazoo.
The 2007 Fort Recovery High School graduate led the University of Dayton volleyball team in kills in two of its three matches Sept. 4 and 5 at the Holiday Inn West Bronco Invitational hosted by Western Michigan. The Flyers won all three matches, giving up just three games as they ran their record to 6-0.
Gaerke's best match came against Wake Forest when she reached double figures in both kills and digs. She led the team with 17 kills while adding 11 digs, six aces and two blocks.
She had a double-double again against the host Broncos with a team-high 14 kills along with 13 digs. She also had two aces.
In Dayton's tournament-opening win over Illinois State Gaerke recorded nine kills, seven digs and two blocks.
The junior ranks second on the team in aces (10) and third in both kills (58) and digs (41).
Adam Gray
Jay County - 2009
Helped the Valparaiso University men's golf team to a second-place finish at the Saint Joseph's Invitational.
In his first collegiate tournament Tuesday and Wednesday, Gray was consistent with back-to-back rounds of 76 to place ninth out of 36 golfers. The Crusaders shot 604 to finish 10 strokes behind champion Lewis in the six-team event.
Maddie Moore
South Adams - 2009
Recorded a point in her first college game with an assist in Bluffton University's 2-1 win Sept. 2 over Goshen.
Moore assisted on the first of Meghan Forquer's two goals on a corner kick. She also had two shots on goal in the win.
She added four shots on goal Sunday in a 2-1 Bluffton win over St. Vincent and had one shot Sept. 5 in a 3-1 to Marietta.
Joseph Vormohr
Jay County - 2006
Started at center for the Hanover College football team Sept. 5 in a 34-20 loss against Centre.
Vormohr anchored an offensive line as the Panthers picked up 294 yards of total offense. They had a 20-13 in the third quarter before Centre scored three fourth-quarter touchdowns.
Megan Adams
Jay County - 2008
Dropped her match in the Huntington University women's tennis team's 6-1 victory Wednesday over Manchester.
Adams lost 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.[[In-content Ad]]
