Geneva sewer project discussed (9/18/04)
Proposed project is on west side of town
GENEVA — Town board members here will continue to discuss a proposed $20,000 project to provide new sewer hook-ups for six town residents.
At the board’s Sept. 7 meeting, Geneva resident Mark Bauman requested a sanitary sewer hook-up with the town for the new home he plans to build off Ind. 116, just west of the town limits.
Board members agreed that there are five other homes in that area that currently have septic systems and need to be hooked up to the system before a new connection is made to land outside town limits.
At a special meeting Friday, town manager Steve Hampshire reported that the project to install meters to the six properties and two new pumps would cost approximately $20,000.
Hampshire added that according to county officials any property within 300 feet of town limits, which includes Bauman, must hook up with the town. Board members agreed that they want to verify that information with town attorney Chris Harvey, who was absent from the Friday afternoon meeting, before approving the project.
Also Friday, board members approved the final reading of the town’s 2005 budget.
The budget increased $51,954 to $761,653 for 2005 from this year’s total of $709,699.
In other business, board members approved the first reading of an ordinance to set up a fine schedule for handicapped parking violations.
There are three handicapped parking spaces located on East Line and Decatur streets.
The fines will total $10 to $100 depending on where the fines are paid and how quckly.
Board members will vote on the final reading at their Tuesday, Oct. 5.
Also, board members met with representatives from Poggemeyer Design Group and Clark Dietz Inc., both of Indianapolis, to hear their individual ideas for creating a storm water utility fee for the town and the planned Winchester Road storm water drainage project.[[In-content Ad]]
