Geneva to replace controllers (01/10/08)
Geneva Town Council
GENEVA - Town council members approved the purchase of a new siren controller for one of the town's two emergency sirens on Tuesday.
The controller is the device within the siren that receives the electronic signal to sound. The controller located on top of the town's water tower has not been replaced since 1977.
The town will pay two thirds of the total cost of the $1,948 replacement. The remaining portion will be funded by Adams County Emergency Management Agency. This agency maintains both of the town's sirens.
Also Tuesday, council members:
•Heard Department of Natural Resources employee Ken Brunswick report on his plans to apply for a grant to fund the purchase of trees for a wetland area on the southwest side of Geneva, west of Ind. 116. This grant, from the Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO),, can be used by a not-for-profit organization for restoration, natural resource enhancement and wildlife habitat improvement.
