Get out and vote
Editorial
The polls are pretty clear: Americans are divided.
But there ought to be one thing we can all agree upon: Vote.
And none of the old excuses hold water.
The days when you could blame not voting on your work schedule, being out of town, having the flu, not finding a babysitter, or a dozen other excuses are gone.
Early voting has changed all that.
And it’s undeniably a change for the better.
Over the past few weeks, there’s been steady traffic at the Jay County Courthouse as people cast their ballots in advance of Election Day.
It hasn’t exactly been a flow. At times it’s been a trickle.
But voters clearly like the convenience of taking part in representative democracy on more than just a single day.
Surprisingly, there are still a number of states — with millions of voters — that have no provisions at all for early voting.
Our guess is that will change before another presidential election rolls around in 2016. — J.R.[[In-content Ad]]
