Good day; good deeds
Corporate citizens come in all shapes and sizes.
The best ones manage to combine solid business practices with consistent generosity, leadership, and high ethical standards.
And the very best ones are able to sustain that recipe for the long haul, building a record that stretches back decades.
One of those marked an anniversary this weekend with a celebration the entire community could share.
Jay County Beverage's 60th year saw hundreds of people turn out for a glimpse of the magnificent Clydesdales of Budweiser and Anheuser-Busch. While Jay Miller was the honoree for the day, everyone got to join in the party, taking hundreds of snapshots on West Main Street.
Saturday's event followed similar parades in Dunkirk - where Budweiser bottles are made by the millions each day - and in Winchester.
Souvenirs for the event were sold to benefit Jay-Randolph Developmental Services, an organization that Jay County Beverage has worked with for more than 20 years, and the Jay County Humane Society.
That last touch came as no surprise.
It's characteristic of Jay Miller to turn his celebration into an opportunity to do good for others.
That's what the best of corporate citizenship is all about. - J.R.[[In-content Ad]]
