Government spending run amok

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:
In regards to 911 fees and the lack of funding due to individuals choosing to switch from landlines to cell phones: Haven’t we, the taxpayers, heard just about enough complaining by local officials?
I’m personally fed-up with seeing my money being constantly sucked out of my hard-earned paycheck every week from all the taxes that government at all levels continues to pilfer from me. When it comes to government spending, it’s always more. I never thought I’d see the day when a sheriff of any county would make almost $100,000 in salary, let alone others in local government capacities making $60,000-plus a year.
Government is full of pork and it’s time it functions with the people’s purse strings in mind and not be operated in the form and function of a huge corporation like it currently is.
In closing, if you need more funds for 911 services, then take a pay cut like most working people have had to do.
That should free up quite a few tax dollars right there.
It’s government run amuck, and the freight train will soon run off the tracks financially if “We the People,” don’t collectively throw the switch to stop it.

Service set
To the editor:
We are living in a time the Bible said would come; that there would be an increase in what Jesus said would be the beginning of birth pains. There would be an increase of spiritual deception, wars, famines, earthquakes and a time of global financial chaos (Matthew 24:8).
We of the Jay County Ministerial Association are inviting the churches and community to come together for a time of worship and prayer for revival in our churches locally and nationally.
This is the most important time for Christians to come together to pray for our churches in accordance with 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
This revival prayer meeting will be held at the Jay County High School auditorium on Sunday, March 4 at 6:30 p.m.
