Grant request denied (12/06/05)
Fort Recovery Village Council
FORT RECOVERY — Village officials learned Monday night that an application for a $100,000 grant from Issue II funds had been rejected.
The village had applied for the funds to install a storm sewer along and reconstruct George Street.
Village administrator Randy Diller told the council that he was notified of the rejection and also explained that the project did not qualify for Small Government Program consideration.
“We will discuss this at a Research Committee meeting in January,” Diller said about the future of the project.
Additionally Monday night, Diller told the council that 25 trees were planted at Fort Site Park and Community Park to replace those destroyed by last January’s ice storm.
Funding for the trees came through FEMA, Diller said.
Diller also told council what weather permitting, the final leaf pick-up of the year will be completed within the next 10 days.
Concerning the Buck Ditch storm sewer replacement project, Diller said a draft of the final project plans are being completed for the council’s review and he hopes those plans will be ready by the next meeting.
“We will then try to get bid documents together fairly quickly,” he said.
The council passed the second reading of the wage ordinance for hourly employees, elected officials and town attorney Dave Bruns. They will be receiving a three and one half percent pay increase in 2006.[[In-content Ad]]
