Gray leads St. Francis golfers
Collegiate Check-up
The only scheduled out-of-state trip of the season brought strong results for Adam Gray.
The 2009 Jay County High School graduate led the University of St. Francis men’s golf team Saturday and Sunday as it finished seventh with a score of 620 at the Bill Bockwitz Intercollegiate tournament hosted by Spring Arbor (Mich.).
Gray closed strong for the Cougars, posting a 3-over-par 75 in the second round of the tournament Sunday at Cascades Golf Course to finish off his team-best score.
He had a 77 in the opening round as he posted a 152 for 14th place overall.
Hannah Moore
South Adams – 2012
Turned in the No. 3 time for the Huntington University women’s cross country team Friday at the Indiana Intercollegiate meet at Indiana.
Moore finished 108th overall and 41st among the “Little State” field of NCAA Division II and III and NAIA schools.
She posted a time of 20 minutes, 53.4 seconds, in the 5K race for the Foresters, who were fifth in the Little State competition.
Dylan Cope
Jay County – 2013
Also ran at the Indiana Intercollegiate meet, competing for the Indiana University East men’s team.
Cope finished the 8K race in 29 minutes, 59.3 seconds, for 139th place overall.
He was 84th among Little State competitors and posted the No. 3 time for the Red Wolves.
Dustin Wanner
South Adams – 2012
Came up with his second interception of the season Saturday to help the Taylor University football team to a 27-21 victory over Lane.
Wanner picked off a pass by Lane quarterback Chris Rini with 5:23 to play in the opening quarter. He finished the game with three tackles.
Eme Miller
Jay County – 2012
Picked up her second top-10 finish of the season Saturday as she led the Defiance College women’s cross country team at the Otterbein Invitational.
Miller, who broke the school record for a 5K race a week earlier, turned in the top time for the Yellow Jackets and finished seventh overall. She crossed the line in 24 minutes, 5.2 seconds, in the 6K race.[[In-content Ad]]
