Halloween program to be held at library
Taking Note
Jay County Public Library, 315 N. Ship St. in Portland, will have a Halloween program tonight from 6:30 to 7:30.
Children may dress in costume but there will not be a contest.
There will be scary stories, crafts and games and refreshments will be served.
Children will also be given a treat bag.

Author Dianna L. (Dillie) Brisco, who grew up in Dunkirk, has written two books, "The Day Marcus Flew" and "The Day Marcus Got A Dog."
She will make two appearances for book signings - the first at Dunkirk Public Library on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. and then at Jay County Public Library on Friday, Nov. 6, from 4 to 5 p.m.
Brisco is a 1980 graduate of Jay County High School and earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in bilingual/bicultural elementary education from Ball State University and Marygrove College in Michigan. For more information, visit www.diannabrisco.com.

A Gene Stratton-Porter Film Fest will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, from noon until 4:30 p.m. at the Star Theater in downtown Geneva.
"A Girl of the Limberlost" made in 1934 and "Laddie" made in 1940 will be shown by film collector and movie historian Eric Grayson of Indianapolis.
The Star Theater is located at 615 E. Line St. Tickets for $6 will be available at the Limberlost State Historic Site at 200 E. 6st St. or by calling (260) 368-7428. Also tickets will be available at the door for $7.
