Handful of contests on primary ballot
Several choices will be available Tuesday when Jay County voters go to the polls for the 2010 primary election.
Candidates from the township, county, state and federal level will be on the ballot as the Democratic and Republican parties select candidates to move on to November's general election.
Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. For a list of polling sites and addresses, see related story.
Contested races at the local level include for county assessor (Republican), sheriff (Republican), commissioner of the middle district (Republican), county council districts 1 and 4 (Democrat) and county council district 3 (Republican).
Township advisory boards and trustees will also be on the ballot at the local level, along with three Democratic candidates for Redkey Town Board.
On the federal level, five Republican candidates are running for the nomination for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Evan Bayh.
It has been a relatively quiet election cycle, with few hot-button issues popping up.
