Hearing set on dairy (8/18/04)
Meeting scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
WINCHESTER — An informational public meeting about a proposed 1,650-head dairy cow operation in Randolph County will be held here Thursday evening.
The meeting, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Randolph County Extension Building, 1885 South U.S. 27, will include a question/answer session led by the applicant, Union Go Dairy LLC. That session will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
A formal public hearing conducted by officials with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management will begin at 7 p.m.
The applicants for the proposed dairy are Tony and Ivonne Goltstein. The site of the dairy is located near the intersection of Randolph County roads 300 West and 300 South, southwest of Winchester.
IDEM is seeking public comment on the draft National Pollutant Discharge Elimination system permit for the proposed dairy. Citizens who wish to make an oral or written comment on the plan may do so at the hearing.
Copies of the permit application are available for review at the Randolph County Health Department and the Winchester Community Public Library, or on the web at www.in.gov/idem/land/permits/notices/index.html.
