Heitkamp in race for Jay Recorder (01/19/06)


A rural Portland woman is seeking her party’s nomination to be Jay County Recorder.

Linda Heitkamp, 5698 East 600 North, Portland, filed this morning to seek the Democrat nomination for Jay County Recorder. Incumbent Betty St. Myers filed her candidacy Wednesday.

On Wednesday afternoon, the incumbent Jay County Prosecutor and another candidiate for Jay County Sheriff, both Democrats, filed to run in the primary along with Dottie Quakenbush, who filed to seek the nomination in the Democratic primary for Richland Township Trustee.

Brad Burkett, 3580 West Juillerat Drive, Portland, filed a courtesy declaration of candidacy with Runyon to seek reelection as Jay County prosecuting attorney. He will file a formal declaration with the Indiana Secretary of State.

Mark Barnett, 2338 East 200 North, Portland, is seeking his party’s nomination for Jay County Sheriff. Four other candidates, Bob Brown, Ray Newton, Jay Halstead, and Mitch Sutton, all Republicans, filed with Runyon on Tuesday.

Quakenbush, 321 E. High St., Redkey, is seeking the nomination as Richland Township Trustee. That seat is currently held by David L. Champ, a Democrat.

Also filing this morning was Tom Post, 7173 East 400 North, who is seeking reelection to the Wayne Township Board.[[In-content Ad]]
