Hosier going to Japan (09/01/07)
Portland Mayor Bruce Hosier will join Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels and nearly 70 other state, business and community leaders on a trade visit to Japan Sept. 7-14.
Daniels will be one of several Midwestern governments attending the Midwest U.S.-Japan Association Conference in Tokyo as part of the trade mission.
A release from the governor's office on Friday said that the focus of the trip will be on developing relationships with companies that currently operate in Indiana or plan to do so in the near future.
It is the third trip to Japan for Daniels since he took office.
Since 2005, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation has completed 28 competitive projects with Japanese businesses. The projects comprise $1.3 billion in capital investment and 5,500 jobs.
