Host 'Skins defeat FRHS
FRHS softball
FORT LORAMIE, Ohio - A single run in the top of the fifth inning gave the Indians a one-run lead. Unfortunately for the Tribe, it did not last long.
The Fort Loramie Redskins responded with three runs in the bottom of the fifth and held on to beat the Fort Recovery High School softball team 4-3.
Kinsey Wenning took the loss, although half of the four runs against her were unearned thanks to four Indian errors. She gave up 10 hits while striking out four batters in five innings.
FRHS scored a run in the third inning, and the Redskins tied the game in the fourth. The teams traded the lead in the fifth, and the Tribe came up with a single run in the top of the seventh for the final margin.
Carly Staugler set the pace for the offense for Fort Recovery (6-10), which plays Celina tonight before meeting Minster in the opening round of the sectional tournament Saturday at New Bremen. She finished 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two runs.
Kelly Thien went 2-for-3 with a double, and Kendra Brunswick singled and scored a run. Joanna Snyder and Lorraine Shier each finished with a single and an RBI, and Wenning also drove in a run.[[In-content Ad]]
