Hough breaks Ancilla record (09/03/05)

Just one match into her second season, Sara Hough put herself into the record books.
In the first match of the College of DuPage tournament Friday, Aug. 26, Hough, a Jay County graduate, set the Ancilla College career record for digs. She led the squad in digs and aces throughout the weekend as the Chargers opened the season with two wins and two losses.
Hough broke the school’s digs record when she posted 11 in its 30-23, 36-34 tournament opening loss to Highland Community College. Ancilla is a two-year college.
She also had three aces in the first match.
The sophomore added 11 more digs in a 30-22, 30-22 win over Illinois Valley Community College, and then posted her high of the weekend with 13 as the Chargers topped Moraine Valley Community College 24-30, 31-29, 15-11.
Ancilla finished the tournament with a loss to eventual champion Vincennes, 30-14, 30-19.
Hough finished as the Chargers’ leader in the tournament with 40 digs and six aces.
Kim Abbott
A 2002 graduate of Jay County, she helped the University of Indianapolis to a victory at the Tri-State Thunder Invitational Saturday, Aug. 27.
Abbott match junior teammate Amber Riley with an 85 for the No. 4 score on the team as the Greyhounds posted a 310 team total. They outdistanced second-place DePauw (315) in the 10-team field.[[In-content Ad]]
