Hummel got the most difficult part of his triple-play in the first quarter when he scored on a 4-yard halfback pass from senior running back Charlie Key. He added a 1-yard touchdown run with 1:34 left in the first half to give the Engineers (2-1) a 21-3 halftime lead.

Just two minutes into the second half he connected with Nate Richter for a 19-yard scoring strike.
