Incident nets 3 charges (05/08/07)
FORT RECOVERY - St. Henry, Ohio resident Travis Buehler was charged with three felony charges for causing more than $25,000 in damage at the elementary and middle school here over the weekend.
Fort Recovery Police Chief Jared Laux said this morning that the 18-year-old was charged with fifth degree felonies of breaking and entering and criminal trespass and criminal damaging, a fourth degree felony. Buehler was being held on $3,000 bond this morning at Mercer County Jail in Celina, Ohio.
Laux said that Buehler allegedly entered Fort Recovery Middle and Elementary School by using a small manhole cover to break the glass of an exterior door. Laux added that he does not believe Buehler, who was allegedly intoxicated, had ties to the village or came to Fort Recovery with plans to vandalize the school.
While in the school, Buehler allegedly broke an estimated 30 interior glass windows, doors and trophy cases. He was arrested after Laux responded to a fire alarm at the school at 12:18 a.m. Sunday. Buehler was found outside the school.
Laux added that he is continuing to investigate the incident and said that there are no other arrests pending.[[In-content Ad]]
